National Space Day 2024

On August 12th, 2024, Seth M.R. Jaipuria School, Vineet Khand, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, proudly hosted an event organized by the National Hydrology Project (Uttar Pradesh-Surface Water) in collaboration with ISRO, celebrating National Space Day. The theme of the event, “Touching Lives While Touching the Moon: India’s Space Saga,” encapsulated the pioneering spirit of India’s space endeavors.
Selected by the government to host this prestigious event, Jaipuria School transformed into a hub of creativity, knowledge, and competition, with students across various classes participating in a series of exciting contests. These activities were designed to inspire young minds and deepen their understanding of space technology and its impact on everyday life.
The event began with a drawing competition for the Primary Section (Classes 3rd to 5th), where students showcased their artistic talents on themes such as “My Planet: A View from Beyond,” “A Trip to the Moon,” and “Living on Mars.” The young artists astounded everyone with their imagination, capturing the beauty of planets, the excitement of space travel, and the possibilities of life on Mars. The first prize was won by Nimish Niranjan (4F), whose depiction of a view from beyond the planet captivated the judges. The second prize was bagged by Syed Naman Ali (4C), while the third prize went to Bhaavya Gupta (5B). Additionally, Navisha Mittal (3C) and Pragvansh Sharma (3B) received consolation prizes for their outstanding efforts.
In the Secondary Section (Classes 6th to 8th), a poster-making competition was held, focusing on themes like “Space Technology,” “Space and Mythology,” and “Space Exploration.” The students combined their knowledge of space with artistic expression, creating posters that highlighted the innovative technologies used in space exploration, the blend of Indian mythology with space elements, and the vastness of the universe. Sanskriti (8D) clinched the first prize for a poster on Space Technology, while Aarna Singh (8C) secured the second position. The third prize was awarded to Avika Singh (8D), with Vamika Negi (7G) and Vanshika Choudhary (6F) receiving consolation prizes.
The collage competition, also for the Secondary Section, saw participants creatively exploring themes such as “Astronauts and Space Life,” “Chandrayaan-3,” and “India’s Space Program.” The collages depicted astronauts working in space, Chandrayaan-3’s historic landing, and India’s journey in space exploration. The first prize went to Zunaira Azad (8E), whose collage on Chandrayaan-3 was particularly impressive. The second and third prizes were awarded to Abhigya Pratap (7F) and Lavanya Shukla (7C), respectively, with Maqil Zaman (8F) and Ulna Touba (6F) receiving consolation prizes.
For the Sr. Secondary Competition (Classes 9th to 10th), an essay writing competition was organized, with topics including “The Role of Satellites in Modern Communication and Navigation,” “Space Technology and Water Management & Monitoring,” and “Women in Space: Breaking Barriers and Shaping the Future.” The essays were evaluated for their depth of analysis and creativity in presenting complex ideas. Riddhima Singh (10A) took home the first prize for an essay on Women in Space. The second and third prizes were won by Shubh Narain Srivastava (9G) and Aurko Daw (10B), respectively, with Kavish Dua (10A) and Aadya Saraswat (9G) receiving consolation prizes.
A quiz competition titled “Space Wars” tested the knowledge of students from the Sr. Secondary Section on topics related to ISRO, Chandrayaan Missions, and the Solar System. The quiz was intense, with participants displaying their quick thinking and thorough understanding of the subject matter. Shivanshu Shukla emerged as the quiz champion, securing the first prize, while Maaz Ahmed took second place, and Abhyudaya Pratap Singh finished third. Apurv Tiwari and Tarun Prakash were also awarded consolation prizes for their commendable performance.
Finally, the Intermediate Section (Classes 11th & 12th) engaged in a thought-provoking debate on the “Impact of Space Technologies on our Daily Life.” The debaters showcased their analytical skills, discussing how space technology influences various aspects of modern life, from communication to navigation. Ishan Srivastava was awarded the first prize for his compelling arguments, with Tarini Dewan and Zoya Khan taking the second prize jointly, and Aarushi Kapoor earning the third prize. Sarthak Mishra received a consolation prize for his excellent contribution.
The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where the winners were celebrated for their achievements. The Engineer-in-Chief (HOD)/ Engineer-in-Chief (Project), Chief Engineer (ISO) from the Irrigation and Water Resources Department, Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow, graced the occasion as the Chief Guests, commending the students for their creativity and knowledge.
