Echoes of the Divine Mother: Bhavani Bharti 2025

The bliss of sacred Bhavani Bharti echoed through Seth M.R. Jaipuria School, Gomti Nagar, as the inter-school competition, Bhavani Bharti unfolded on 25 November 2025. The date felt especially meaningful because just a day earlier, the school had observed Sri Aurobindo’s Siddhi Day, the moment he described as the descent of a higher consciousness into the physical. With that spirit in the air, the gathering felt more like an offering than a contest.

Bhavani Bharti is a luminous Sanskrit composition written by Sri Aurobindo, where the voice of the Divine Mother speaks as the soul of Bharat. Through its 99 verses, the text celebrates the feminine power that protects, awakens and guides the nation. It blends patriotism with spiritual depth, urging inner strength and conscious action. Even today, its message continues to inspire devotion, courage and clarity of purpose.

About 23 schools from across the city and Uttar Pradesh participated. The proceedings began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, performed in the honour of the tradition. Students then offered a serene rendition of the Saraswati Vandana, filling the auditorium with reverence and calm.

Dr. Sampadanand Mishra reminded students that modern labels like Gen Z should never define who they are. “These identities were never meant for us,” he said. “Our rishis have already given us our true identity—we are children of immortality and children of bliss. When we earn, we must give back even more. Earn with a hundred hands, give with a thousand. When we live with this spirit, our individual and collective lives rise together.”

Distinguished voices from Sanskrit, education, and academia were present — Dr Sampadanand Mishra; Shree Arnab Bhattacharya, Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Kanpur; Professor Bharat Bhushan Tripathi, Senior Acharya of the Department of Grammar at the Central Sanskrit University, Lucknow Campus; and Mr Bhushan Singh.

After the inaugural ceremony, the school buzzed with movement as the competition unfolded across multiple venues on the campus.

An esteemed panel of judges evaluated every event with care and expertise. The panel included Archana Srivastava, Prerika Agarwal, Dr Naresh Dixit, Dr Anuj Kumar Shukla, Dr Tejnath Paudel, Shivanand Tiwari, Dr Antima Choudhary, Dr Uma Singh, Mayank Tiwari, Dr Shobhram Dubey and Dr Dhananjay Shukla.

In Sukantabharanam, students came forward in groups of four. Each student recited a chosen verse from Bhavani Bharti and then explained its meaning in their own words, showing how well they understood the text.

In Nityabhivyakti, the focus shifted to expression. Students arrived in vibrant, imaginative costumes—some depicting Kali Maa, others embodying the voice of Mother India and more. While one student recited the verse, the other brought those images to life through movement and abhinaya, turning each verse into a vivid, living scene.

In Swamatam, the students spoke about what the verses meant to them personally. They shared how Bhavani Bharti shapes their thinking, how it changes their perspective, and why its ideas still matter in today’s world.

Unlike previous years, when the competition featured three segments, this year we introduced a fourth module: Prashna-Mala. This quiz round challenged each school’s team with questions drawn from the verses and themes of Bhavani Bharti, testing both recall and understanding.

By the end of the day the results were announced:
