This year’s theme was “Transforming the World with AI.” Students delved into the realm of artificial intelligence through a series of immersive competitions, exploring topics such as AI’s practical applications, how it processes data, and its role in our daily lives.
The event had three categories: Power Rangers, which consisted of 6th and 7th-grade students; Avengers, which included 8th and 9th-grade students; and Titans, which featured students from grades 10, 11, and 12.
Discussions also explored the pervasive influence of social media, delving into how established guidelines shape our usage, affect our privacy, and govern the management of our data. Additionally, students debated the dual nature of social media, recognizing it as both a powerful tool that fosters global connectivity and idea-sharing, and a potential threat to personal privacy.
Thy Bard’s Market:
In this theatrical spectacle, teams brought Shakespearean charm to modern advertising. Participants, dressed in elaborate costumes, used Shakespearean English to craft clever pitches for everyday products.
Shakespearean Showcase:
Solo performers took to the stage, embodying iconic characters from Shakespeare’s plays. Students brought life to characters such as Julius Caesar, Hamlet, Othello, and more. Their creative costumes added a unique element to their performances.
Altercation:
In this event, participants engaged in a dynamic debate on the topic “Youth is more focused on online validation than developing long-term skills.” Each team, consisting of two members, presented well-structured arguments from opposing perspectives. The discussion highlighted concerns about the youth’s obsession with social media, focusing on likes and comments, and the emotional impact when these are absent. One participant aptly pointed out that social media trends are ever-changing, making it unwise to chase short-lived online validation.
Samajh Samajh Ka Fer (Understanding the Idiom):
This competition, centered around Hindi idioms, drew enthusiastic participation from the students. Each participating school fielded a team of three students eager to showcase their knowledge and skills. In Round 1, students performed mimes based on idioms and then identified the idioms. In Round 2, they were given words and had to create three idioms using those words. Round 3 involved showing pictures related to idioms, and students had to identify the idioms depicted. Finally, Round 4 was a thrilling challenge where students had to identify the correct idiom based on given sentences.
Geet Gaate Chalo, Gungunate Chalo (Antakshari):
This musical munch became everyone’s favorite. Students played Antakshari with poems in four fun rounds. During Round 1, students showcased their creativity by reciting poems that began with a designated letter. Round 2 tested their ability to compose poems using a given word. In Round 3, participants were invited to present poems evoking different emotions, whether their own or by other poets. The final round challenged students to write a poem inspired by a picture within 40 seconds and recite it in 20 seconds. Some of the poems were Kalpana karo Naveen, Kaal kare toh aaj kar, Itni Baar Tumhe Dekha, and more.
Verses Unfolded: A Collaborative Poetry Performance:
Teams of poets collaborated in a literary dance, crafting a poem stanza by stanza without prior interaction. The topics were Visions of the Future for the Power Rangers category, Soul in the Machine for the Avengers category, and Intelligent Eyes for the Titans category. The final participant then recited the complete work, blending the individual voices into a harmonious whole.
Data Detective:
Teams employed their knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and Data Analysis to solve complex mathematical challenges. Each team worked on a computer, using graphs and data to uncover patterns and solutions.
NUMEXUS:
The event unfolded in two intense rounds, challenging the logical reasoning and mathematical prowess of teams from classes 10, 11, and 12. The first round was a rigorous 25-question written test completed in 45 minutes. Only the top five teams advanced to the second round, where their mathematical acumen was further tested in a high-stakes quiz. The competition demanded sharp problem-solving skills and quick thinking. Students also engaged in a fun Sudoku competition, in which teams of three solved a Sudoku puzzle using a provided computer system.
Although our school secured the first prize, we chose not to claim it. Consequently, the first prize was awarded to CMS Kanpur Road Branch, while the second prize went to Navsrijan School.
