Jaipuria Symposium 2025: Redefining Debate Through Dialogue

The inaugural Jaipuria Symposium 2025, a student-led inter-school conclave hosted by Seth M.R. Jaipuria School, Gomti Nagar on 30th and 31st July, brought together some of the brightest young minds from across Lucknow for two days of thought-provoking dialogue, collaboration, and critical thinking. With the theme “Diverse Voices, Shared Solutions,” the symposium moved beyond traditional debating formats to encourage meaningful, solution-oriented discussions rooted in empathy, clarity, and mutual respect.

Day One began with the Oxford Style Debate, where teams debated on defined motions in a 2v2 format, developing arguments, presenting rebuttals, and engaging in structured exchanges. This was followed by the Modified Cambridge Style Debate, in which merged teams from different schools collaborated in layered, multi-speaker formats. This round fostered alliance-building, adaptability, and deeper analysis, encouraging students to shift their mindset from competition to collaboration.

Day Two opened with the Turncoat Debate, a dynamic format that required speakers to argue both sides of the same motion. It tested not just rhetorical skill but also flexibility, objectivity, and intellectual empathy. The symposium culminated in the Consensus Paper Round, where finalists from all four councils came together—regardless of their schools—to co-author a balanced, actionable document. It was a powerful exercise in co-creation, showcasing how debate can evolve into dialogue and ultimately, into shared solutions.

The event was structured around four thematic councils: Tech and Innovation, Economic Roundtable, Political and Cultural, and Social and Humanitarian—each inviting students to explore global and local issues with insight, diplomacy, and creativity.

The closing ceremony celebrated both individual brilliance and collective achievement. The Best Speaker Awards were conferred upon:
Aryaman Jain – Tech and Innovation Forum
Tavisha Gattani – Economic Roundtable
Kaunteya Singh – Political and Cultural Council
Kartik Agarwal – Social and Humanitarian Council

The Best Consensus Paper was awarded to the Tech and Innovation Forum, while the runner-up was the Political and Cultural Council.

Seth M.R. Jaipuria School, Gomti Nagar was honoured with the title of Best School Delegation.

In the Oxford Style Debate finals:
Pool A Winner – Seth M.R. Jaipuria School, Gomti Nagar
Pool B Winner – Modern Academy, Gomti Nagar

Speaking at the valedictory ceremony, Principal Mrs Promini Chopra shared,
“This event reflects Jaipuria’s ethos of nurturing socially conscious leaders who rise above competition to create meaningful change. Seeing students engage with such maturity and respect for differing views was truly inspiring.”

As Jaipuria Symposium 2025 drew to a close, it left behind more than awards or accolades—it ignited a renewed belief in the power of dialogue. For when young people come together not merely to win, but to listen, reflect, and collaborate, they do not just debate the world—they begin to transform it.

With its resounding success and the incredible enthusiasm it generated, the Jaipuria Symposium has laid the foundation for a powerful new tradition—one that we look forward to building upon in many inspiring editions to come.
