Junior, Middle, and Senior School Diwali Celebrations: Illuminating the Inner Spirit

The Junior, Middle, and Senior School students of Seth M. R. Jaipuria School gathered for a special assembly on 5 November 2026 and 6 November 2026 to celebrate Diwali in a spirit of joyous commingling and vibrant enthusiasm. Endearing sights of students and teachers coming together to make beautiful flower rangolis and light gorgeous diyas abounded across the School premises.

The assembly began with the invocation of the Divine and the singing of melodious songs. Beyond the festive celebrations, the special assembly also featured events that enhanced the learning experience of the students, bringing in an intellectual dimension to festivities. One such event was the Diwali Trivia Quiz, which had fascinating questions drawn from the Puranas about popular stories associated with the festival, as well as the significance of some stories and rituals. Brimming with enthusiasm, the students eagerly raised their hands to answer the quiz, amplifying the festive energy of the celebrations with an intellectual touch.

The students were also advised to be vigilant and responsible and not to be swayed by popular trends. Instead, they were encouraged to make the most of the plethora of learning opportunities provided by the School and focus on their personal growth and academic achievement. To reinforce this message, they were given the examples of student role-models, motivating them to emulate these achievers. Some of the student role-models mentioned in the assembly were Karthik Agarwal (11G), Saanvi Agarwal (11G), Anmol Sharma (9G), Fareeha Khan (10F), and Aarna Singh (10B).

Grade 6 students shared the inspiring story of the social activist Murlidhar Devidas Amte, popularly known as Baba Amte, reinforcing the message of social responsibility and service. In 1949, he founded Anandwan — The Forest of Joy. Starting with six people affected by leprosy, he transformed a barren piece of land into a thriving community. Remembering Baba Amte’s remarkable example, the students observed: ‘He taught people who had forgotten their own worth how to become lamps themselves’. Reflecting on the values exemplified by Baba Amte and connecting them with Diwali, the students concluded their presentation with the message: ‘A festival of light is not truly celebrated when only our homes are illuminated. It is celebrated when our humanity shines a little brighter’.

The Diwali celebration at Seth M. R. Jaipuria School was not merely about the external lighting of diyas; rather, it was about illuminating the inner spirit and nurturing it with the values of generosity, kindness, and compassion.

Our School wishes everyone a happy and prosperous Diwali!
