The Junior School celebrated Fruit Awareness Day and Mango Day on 17th July 2026 with great enthusiasm, creating a joyful atmosphere that promoted healthy eating, gratitude, kindness, and family bonding. Students came dressed in creative handmade mango-themed badges and headgears and brought neatly packed diced mangoes to enjoy during a special fruit tiffin. Through an engaging presentation, they explored different varieties of mangoes, their nutritional benefits, and the life cycle of a mango seed, while also reflecting on the teachings of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother that true sweetness lies in the goodness, compassion, gratitude, and sharing within every individual.
Children discussed the joy of preparing and enjoying mangoes with their families and were encouraged to make a simple mango recipe together during the long weekend and write about their experience, reinforcing the importance of cooperation and togetherness. As young health ambassadors, the Grade IV students visited various classrooms with baskets of fresh fruits, conducted exciting blindfold fruit-identification games, and spread awareness about the importance of including seasonal fruits in a healthy diet. The celebration concluded with a heartfelt act of gratitude as students presented the fruits to the school’s ancillary staff, expressing appreciation and sharing the message of healthy living. They were also encouraged to plant the mango seed after enjoying the fruit, symbolising patience, growth, and the extraordinary potential within every child. The celebration beautifully blended joyful learning, meaningful reflection, family engagement, and compassionate action, nurturing in students a deeper appreciation for healthy living, togetherness, and the joy of giving.
The Primary School teachers also used the mango as an analogy to encourage the children to realise their inner sweetness, as illustrated by the following message:
Sri Aurobindo taught us that inside every little boy and girl, there is a beautiful, quiet soul of pure sweetness —just like honey hidden inside a mango!
When you are kind, peaceful, and share your happy laugh, you are radiating the beautiful golden sweetness of your own inner heart with the whole wide world.
