Senior students gathered on the front field of Seth M. R. Jaipuria School for the Annual Athletic Meet held over two days, on 13 and 14 March. The ground quickly filled with enthusiasm and anticipation as athletes prepared to test their strength, speed and teamwork in a series of sporting events.
The morning began with students assembling on the ground, followed by the ceremonial flag hoisting. The gathering then joined together to sing the school anthem.
The march past marked a striking beginning to the meet, with Shivangi confidently leading the formation as the four houses moved across the field in disciplined coordination.
The ceremonial torch was then lit by C Division champions Adya and Vansh, symbolising the spirit of determination and perseverance that athletics represents. Soon after, the athletes’ oath was administered by Yashasvi Singh, B Division champion, who led the participants in pledging to compete with honesty, fairness and respect for the spirit of the games.
Principal Mrs. Promini Chopra Ma’am then declared the meet open and addressed the gathering, reflecting on the deeper significance of sports in the lives of students. Speaking about the changing world and the growing dependence on technology, she said, “Much of what we call knowledge today is available at the click of a button. What truly matters is how we prepare ourselves to face life. The sports field teaches you to become stronger, to accept failure, to appreciate others and to grow tougher with every challenge.”
Encouraging the young athletes gathered before her, she added, “When you immerse yourself in sport, you learn lessons that no textbook can offer. You learn to clap for others, to handle victory with humility and to rise again after defeat. These experiences make life richer.”
With the formal opening complete, the ground soon filled with excitement as events commenced. Students competed in a variety of track and field events including sprints, relay races, hurdles, long jump, handball and throwing events. Athletes pushed themselves with determination while their housemates cheered enthusiastically from the sidelines.
Throughout the two days, the sports teachers ensured the smooth conduct of the events, guiding and supporting the participants under the leadership of Head of the Department, Sports, Mr. R. K. Singh.
The competitions continued on the second day with the same spirit and enthusiasm as students displayed agility, stamina and sportsmanship across the various events.
The meet concluded with the prize distribution ceremony, where awards were presented by Principal Mrs. Promini Chopra Ma’am along with members of the school leadership team. As the final scores were announced, Perfection House emerged as the overall winner of the meet. In a moment filled with excitement, members of the house ran across the field in celebration, taking a joyful leap as they gathered around the trophy and congratulated one another.
