Celebrating International Yoga Day with Collective Spirit and Inner Stillness

Students, teachers, parents, and staff rolled out their yoga mats as Seth M.R. Jaipuria School celebrated International Yoga Day on 21st June 2025. Yoga Asanas were observed across four different venues within the school, as participants collectively offered the day to the Divine, seeking inner peace and harmony. The school came together in a true spirit of unity and wellness to practise and honour the ancient discipline of yoga.

Seth M.R. Jaipuria School, which leads its students on a journey of conscious transformation, is deeply rooted in the philosophy of Sri Aurobindo. He believed that “all life is yoga”—a powerful idea that recognises every aspect of life as a pathway to spiritual growth and self-perfection. Guided by this vision, the school thoughtfully integrates yogic practices across all grades, supported by a dedicated team of yoga teachers who begin nurturing this discipline right from the Pre-Primary level.

As part of the day’s celebrations, a special yoga session was conducted for our NCC cadets on the basketball court. The session beautifully blended discipline with well-being. It began with a series of focused breathing exercises that helped students ground themselves, followed by a dynamic flow of asanas designed to energise the body and calm the mind.

They began with Pranayama, followed by Abdominal Breathing, Alternate Nostril Breathing (Anulom Vilom), and Bhramari Pranayama. With their breath aligned, the students moved into Shalabhasana (Locust Pose), Kandharasana (Shoulder Pose), Utkatasana, and Tadasana. This was followed by Trikonasana (Triangle Pose), Kati Chakrasana (Waist Rotation), and Bhadrasana (Butterfly Pose). The session concluded with Yoga Nidra, followed by the collective chanting of the Shanti Mantra, leaving the atmosphere calm and energised.

In the School Auditorium and Craft Room, teachers, students, and parents gathered for a rejuvenating yoga practice conducted by our talented yoga teachers. The gathering embraced yoga not just as a physical activity but as a pathway to mental clarity and emotional balance.

The session began with Janu Naman (leg movement), setting the tone with a sense of grounding and gratitude. This was followed by gentle movements such as Pawanmuktasana (Wind-Relieving Pose) and Udarakarshan (Abdominal Twisting Pose) to awaken the body.

Alongside the physical asanas, special tips were shared on how to manage stress, back pain, and mental stiffness through mindful breathing and yoga techniques. Emphasis was laid on the connection between bodily stiffness and stress, and how yoga helps alleviate both through consistent practice.

As the session progressed, the participants were guided through a series of classic asanas like Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose), Makarasana (Crocodile Pose), Tadasana (Mountain Pose), Tiryak Tadasana (Swaying Palm Tree Pose), and Kati Chakrasana (Waist Rotation Pose).

The practice culminated with a revitalising Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation) series and the deeply calming Yoga Nidra (Yogic Sleep)—a guided relaxation that allowed everyone to release mental clutter and experience inner stillness.

One of the parents present in the auditorium shared,

“I came here just to accompany my child, but ended up discovering a beautiful moment for myself. I’m going home calmer, lighter, and more centred. I couldn’t have imagined a better way to spend the morning of Yoga Day.”

Even the support staff which includes our Ayah Didis and Bhaiyyas, enthusiastically joined the celebration, as they followed the footsteps of the powerful slogan “Yoga Se Hoga”. Together, they practised yoga in the assembly area with great sincerity and joy.

Seth M.R. Jaipuria School transformed into a vibrant hub of yogic energy, as everyone practised together in a shared spirit to embrace the true essence of yoga.
