A Celebration of Patriotism: Republic Day at Seth M. R. Jaipuria School

A wave of patriotism echoed through the school ground as teachers, students, and parents, clad in the vibrant colours of the tricolour, gathered to celebrate Republic Day on 26th January 2025. The event commenced with the flag hoisting by our esteemed Chief Guest, Dr. Vinod Solanki, along with our beloved Principal, Mrs. Promini Chopra, and Navsrijan Principal, Mrs. Asha Chaddha. The sight of the national flag unfurling against the morning sky, accompanied by the stirring notes of the national anthem, filled every heart with pride.

The students of each house stood in perfect discipline, brimming with enthusiasm as they prepared for the march-past. One by one, each house showcased synchronized steps and impeccable coordination, marking a beautiful start to the day. The rhythmic beat of the drums echoed through the air, embodying the spirit of unity and teamwork.

Our Principal, Mrs. Promini Chopra, addressed the gathering with an inspiring speech. She spoke about the significant role the youth play in bringing advancements and making our country shine on global platforms. She also highlighted how influences such as mobile phones and social media negatively impact students’ ability to concentrate on their studies. Furthermore, she urged the students to be mindful of distractions, saying, “Be guided by your soul; listen to your psychic being to discern which external influences to embrace and which to reject.”

Our chief guest, Dr. Vinod Solanki, emphasized the urgent need to address the excessive use of social media. He proposed, “To tackle this issue, we must act now. I suggest forming a Samvaad Kendra—a dialogue initiative for building a new India (Naya Bharat Gadho). This initiative would be open to teachers and parents. Once a week, we could gather, select a book, read it, and engage in discussions to cultivate a better collective consciousness. This practice can take place at school as well as at home.”

The celebration saw many proud moments as students showcased their talents. Saanvi Agarwal of Grade 9, accompanied by her mother, was honoured for winning the SGFI National Chess Tournament under 14, earning a spot in the International Championship. Her achievement was a shining example of dedication, discipline, and excellence, inspiring her peers to reach for their dreams.

The cultural program that followed was a breathtaking showcase of the students’ creativity and patriotism. From a soulful Instrumental Presentation that resonated with the melodies of India to a stirring Hindi Speech that reflected the importance of the Constitution, each performance added depth to the day’s celebrations. The self-composed poem recited by a student painted a vivid picture of India’s progress, while the Group Song brought all hearts together in the shared spirit of unity and pride. Messages by the Head Boy, Ishan Srivastava, and Head Girl, Zoya Khan left everyone moved with their words on democracy, responsibility, and integrity.

The event reached its zenith with an electrifying Dance Performance to a medley of patriotic songs, which had the audience clapping and cheering in unison. The vibrant movements captured the essence of India’s unity in diversity. A Western Group Performance followed, blending modern rhythms with traditional pride, symbolizing India’s ability to harmonize both worlds. A particularly emotional moment occurred when Aviral took the stage to speak in Sanskrit on the significance of Republic Day in a student’s life, bringing a timeless and cultural depth to the proceedings.

As the echoes of “Vande Mataram” resonated through the grounds, it wasn’t just the words that filled the space, but the emotion of millions of hearts across the nation, standing tall together, proud of the heritage and the future we are building. Every student, every teacher, and every parent present felt the weight of responsibility—to not only honour our country’s past but to be the architects of its bright future.

At this moment, as we stood together, we were reminded that patriotism is not just a celebration of our independence but a constant commitment to our country’s progress, values, and the collective strength of its people.

This Republic Day, we reaffirmed our belief in the power of unity, integrity, and the spirit of a new India—one where each of us plays a part in creating a better tomorrow.

Jai Hind!
