On 15th October 2024, the Bhavani Bharti competition was held at Seth M.R. Jaipuria School. The event saw participation from 23 schools across the city and Uttar Pradesh. Bhavani Bharti, penned by Sri Aurobindo between 1904 and 1908, is a collection of 99 verses that resonate with the voice of Bharat Mata, each infused with a profound sense of patriotism.
Talented students from class 4th to 9th, captivated the audience with a mesmerizing rendition of Saraswati Vandana, filling the entire auditorium with an atmosphere of deep serenity and devotion. This was followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp.
The event was graced by renowned educators and personalities who have significantly contributed to the Sanskrit language, including Dr. Sampadanand Mishra, Ashish Narendra, President of Indic International School, Hyderabad, Hema Surapani, Director of Indic International School, Hyderabad, and Shri Bharat Bhushan Tripathi, President of the Veda Department at Central Sanskrit University, Lucknow Campus.
In her speech, Mrs. Promini Chopra emphasized, “In this era of globalization, it is crucial to uphold our values and nurture a strong sense of patriotism. When you deeply understand the verses of Bhavani Bharti, you will grasp the struggles endured by our freedom fighters to secure the freedom we cherish today.”
The event was divided into three segments: Sukantabharanam, Nityabhivyakti, and Swamatam. In Sukantabharanam, four students at a time showcased their eloquent recitation skills by reciting a verse from Bhavani Bharti and then explaining its meaning. In Nityabhivyakti, students donned vibrant costumes and gave captivating performances, bringing the verses of Bhavani Bharti to life. In Swamatam, they shared unique, modern interpretations of Bhavani Bharti, offering fresh perspectives relevant to today’s world.
This year, Navsrijan School, a free English-medium school for underserved children, secured first place, becoming the overall winner. Seth M.R. Jaipuria School, Gomti Nagar, earned second place, while Seth M.R. Jaipuria Babatpur Campus took third place.
