Inter-School Bhavani Bharati Competition 2023

On October 31, 2023, the Inter-School Bhavani Bharati Competition was hosted at Seth M.R. Jaipuria School, Gomtinagar, Lucknow branch. A total of 23 schools enthusiastically participated in this event.
The event commenced with a ceremonial lamp lighting ceremony, graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including the esteemed Chief Guest, Mr. Bharat Bhushan, the Principal, Promini Chopra, as well as notable dignitaries such as Dr. Anamika Pandey, Dr. Sampadanand Mishra, and Dr. Ashu Goel
Our talented students graced the stage with a mesmerizing rendition of Saraswati Vandana, infusing the entire auditorium with an aura of profound serenity and devotion.
Principal Promini Chopra took the stage to address the crowd, in her speech, she thanked the guests, school principals of the schools who sent the students, and teachers. She further discussed the importance of Bhavani Bharti, “Although it was produced during the freedom struggle, the verses still hold important relevance in our society. We have to understand Maharishi Sri Aurobindo, he has tried to arouse the sentiments of all Indians for Bharat Mata, and for us to have the drive to work so that Bharat Mata becomes stronger. Our primary aim is to work towards the growth and progress of Bharat Mata. The aim of this competition is that we want you students to learn the sentiments in this poetry. You all said Bharat Mata needs freedom from biases, and from our own emotions which interfere with the progress of Bharat Mata. Whatever we do, it should not go against Bharat Mata as it is our identity and the soul of our country. ”
Later Dr. Sampadanand Mishra took the stage to give an introduction about the Bhavani Bharti. He spoke about how Maharishi Sri Aurobindo’s bold writings in the weekly published newspaper ‘Bande Mataram’ challenged and scared the Britishers, to the point they had to ban it. He explained, “Maharishi Sri Aurobindo wrote this in the Sanskrit language because he believed that the soul of Bharat Mata can be only heard through Sanskrit.”
A video was played which had a detailed story with visuals, where the voice of Bharat Mata narrated how different events took place during the freedom struggle and how Maharishi Aurobindo, along with other freedom fighters fought to bring awareness and patriotism among the masses.
Dr. Anamika Pandey took the stage to speak about the importance of Sanskrit and how students must make sure that their pronunciation is correct. “Maharishi Aurobindo brought the concept of Spirituality and patriotism together. Bhavani Bharti is one of the finest examples, where spirituality and patriotism come together. Students, you are the future of our nation and you have the power to make the right change with your actions.”
The Inter-School Bhavani Bharati Competition takes place in three events, Sukanthabharanam, where four students at one time, recite and explain the meaning of one verse from the Bhavani Bharti. Nityabhivyikthi, where one student recites a verse from Bhavani Bharti meanwhile the other student roleplays the meanings of the verse through actions and expressions. Swamatam, where students give a speech on what they understood from Bhavani Bharti, how it changed their perspective, and how it can be implemented in today’s society.
All three events took place simultaneously at Seth MR Jaipuria School, Gomtinagar, in four different venues.
