The Pre-Primary children of Seth M. R. Jaipuria School celebrated Diwali on 5 November 2026, ushering in a festive atmosphere in the School. The celebrations combined creative activities with learning experiences, deeply strengthening the bond amongst the School community.
The Nursery Block celebrated Diwali through a special Parent-Teacher Collaboration, bringing parents, teachers, and children together in the spirit of togetherness, cultural awareness, creativity, and community sharing. The Nursery celebration began on a warm note with children welcoming their parents by applying tika on their foreheads, creating a special moment of love and togetherness. This was followed by Ramayana Story Weaving, where parents came together to connect with our rich cultural traditions and share the timeless values of the epic.
A special highlight was The Lotus of Aspiration – Growing Towards the Divine Light, where parents reflected upon the values and qualities they aspire to nurture in their children. Each parent contributed an individual lotus petal, and together, the petals formed a beautiful lotus, symbolising our shared aspiration to help every child unfold their inner potential and grow towards a higher ideal.
The celebration continued with Rangoli Making with Fathers, symbolising family unity and harmony, where each member, with their unique qualities, comes together to make a family beautiful. Meanwhile, mothers participated in Paper Bag Decoration – Prithvi Mitra, embracing creativity and the spirit of giving.
Keeping in mind that celebrations are more about giving than receiving, parents were encouraged to place the children’s artwork and creations made throughout the week, including lanterns, diyas and Swastik decorations, inside their beautifully decorated bags. They were also invited to add a few thoughtful gifts and share these bags with someone less privileged. The idea was to spread the joy of Diwali beyond our homes, brighten someone else’s home, and bring a smile to another face.
The collaboration aimed to strengthen the partnership between parents and teachers, foster cultural awareness, encourage meaningful parent-child engagement, and nurture values of sharing, caring, kindness, and environmental responsibility. It also celebrated the spirit of community collaboration and our shared responsibility in helping every child grow and blossom. The Nursery celebration was a beautiful reminder that when parents and teachers work hand in hand, they create a nurturing environment where every child can blossom.
The LKG and UKG students too marked the festival with grandeur and joy, exploring the significance of the festival and reliving the tradition with various creative activities. They created artful magical lanterns, beautifully decorated diyas, and vibrant flower rangolis in their classrooms. Dressed in colourful traditional attire, they also participated in a special Ganesh-Lakshmi Puja in their respective classrooms, experiencing the warmth of the festival.
The LKG children lovingly created beautiful torans, adding a special artistic touch through bud painting. Continuing the spirit of generosity demonstrated by the Nursery children, they too gifted these handmade torans to the didis and bhaiyas in the School. Through this gesture, they discovered the joy of sharing kindness with others, while remembering to be inclusive.
The celebration unravelled a particularly touching moment when children watched a moving advertisement encouraging them to buy local products. So deeply evocative was the message of the advertisement that it left some children teary-eyed. It was a reflection of their empathy and sensitivity, as well as a poignant reminder of their capacity to understand and embody the values of compassion, gratitude, and concern for others.
Overall, the Diwali festivities at the Pre-Primary School were not just a celebration of the festival of lights, but the light within every child.
Shubh Deepawali!
