Jaipuria Symposium 2026

Guided by the theme, ‘Where Minds Debate, Ideas Converge and Perspectives Transform through Conscious Collaboration’, the Second Edition of Jaipuria Symposium (2026) hosted by Seth M.R. Jaipuria School, Vineet Khand, Lucknow, marked the beginning of two days of intellectual exchange, collaborative reasoning, and meaningful discourse.  This year it shaped into a National Level Debate Competition with participation of several outstation school teams also.  Bringing together 29 teams from 19 schools across multiple cities, the Symposium welcomed young minds to engage with contemporary issues through informed debate, critical inquiry, and conscious collaboration. What was remarkable about the event was that it was a student-led initiative, demonstrating their exemplary leadership skills, well-complemented by their meticulous organisational skills and seamless execution.

Day 1, 7th August 2026:

The Symposium commenced with the National Song and the Jaipuria Anthem, followed by the warm welcome of the Chief Guest, distinguished adjudicators, sponsors, and participating schools. The Opening Ceremony featured the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp, a soulful Saraswati Vandana, and a classical dance presentation titled ‘A Journey through Panchatattva’, celebrating the harmonious relationship between humanity and the five elements of nature.

The event was formally inaugurated by Dr. Neil Jain, Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals), Lucknow, in the esteemed presence of members of the school management, distinguished educators, adjudicators, and participating schools. Welcoming the gathering, Ms. Promini Chopra, Principal, Seth M.R. Jaipuria School, Vineet Khand, encouraged participants to embrace debate as a means of learning, empathy, and intellectual growth rather than merely competition. In his inaugural address, Dr. Neil Jain inspired delegates to cultivate curiosity, independent thought, and respectful dialogue, emphasising the significance of informed conversations in shaping responsible future leaders.

The ceremony also featured a special segment on Community Collaboration, reflecting the school’s commitment to fostering meaningful partnerships and shared learning beyond institutional boundaries. As a gesture of gratitude, mementoes were presented to the distinguished moderators, adjudicators, and members of the organising team in recognition of their invaluable contribution to the Symposium.

An opening film capturing the vision and philosophy of Jaipuria Symposium 2026 was then unveiled, following which the Core Team formally declared the Second Edition of Jaipuria Symposium open, marking the official commencement of the competitive proceedings.

Centred around the theme, ‘Where Minds Debate, Ideas Converge and Perspectives Transform through Conscious Collaboration’, the Symposium began with the Oxford Style Debate, conducted across four thematic councils—the Economic Round Table, Social and Humanitarian Council, Tech and Innovation Forum, and the Political and Cultural Council. Participants deliberated upon pressing contemporary issues, presenting well-researched arguments, engaging in thoughtful rebuttals and responding confidently to interjections while demonstrating analytical depth, articulate expression, and effective communication.

Qualifying teams then advanced to the Turncoat Debate, one of the Symposium’s signature formats, where speakers were challenged to defend both sides of the same motion. The format tested participants’ intellectual flexibility, spontaneity, and critical thinking, encouraging them to evaluate contrasting perspectives with fairness, composure, and clarity.

The day’s proceedings concluded with the drafting of the Consensus Paper, a distinctive feature of Jaipuria Symposium that sets it apart from conventional debating competitions. Working collaboratively despite differing viewpoints, participants sought to formulate balanced recommendations on contemporary issues, reinforcing the Symposium’s commitment to dialogue, cooperation, and solution-oriented thinking.

The opening day witnessed remarkable enthusiasm, rigorous intellectual engagement, and exemplary sportsmanship, laying a strong foundation for the Quarter Finals, Semi-Finals, and Final rounds scheduled for the concluding day of the Symposium. Through every discussion, rebuttal, and collaborative exercise, Jaipuria Symposium 2026 reaffirmed its vision of nurturing young leaders who debate not merely to persuade, but to understand, collaborate, and transform perspectives.

Day 2, 8th August 2026:

Building on the momentum of the opening day, the second and concluding day of the Second Edition of Jaipuria Symposium 2026 saw the competition progress through increasingly challenging formats, placing participants in situations that demanded not only strong argumentation, but also adaptability, strategic thinking, policy awareness, and the ability to respond to unfamiliar perspectives with composure.

The day began with the reporting of the qualifying teams, followed by the research phase for Round 3. The round introduced two distinct formats, the U.S. Executive Leadership Debate and the British Governance Conclave, each requiring participants to approach contemporary issues through a specific framework of governance and leadership. The research period allowed teams to examine their subjects closely, develop strategic positions and prepare responses to the complexities of the format before entering the debate.

The U.S. Executive Leadership Debate placed participants in the role of decision-makers, requiring them to assess issues from the perspective of executive leadership and formulate reasoned responses to contemporary challenges. The British Governance Conclave, meanwhile, invited participants to engage with questions of governance, institutional responsibility, and political decision-making. Across both formats, participants were required to balance factual understanding with persuasive communication, demonstrating that effective leadership is as much about judgement and adaptability as it is about conviction.

The Round 3 debates witnessed energetic exchanges, with teams defending their positions while responding to challenges from opposing sides. The formats tested participants’ ability to think beyond prepared speeches and engage dynamically with the questions and arguments presented before them. Following the conclusion of the round, the results were announced, determining the teams that would advance to the next stage of the competition.

After the transition into Round 4, teams were once again provided dedicated research time before entering the next stage of debate. By this point, the competition had narrowed considerably, and the exchanges reflected the cumulative intensity of the Symposium. Participants were required to draw upon their research while constructing arguments that were precise, coherent and responsive. The Round 4 debates placed particular emphasis on the ability to sustain an argument under pressure, identify weaknesses in opposing positions and formulate effective rebuttals without losing sight of the larger question at hand.

The announcement of the Round 4 results set the stage for the Grand Final Debate. The finalists were given a final research window before entering the concluding debate of the Symposium. With two days of preparation, multiple formats, and several rounds of competition behind them, the final exchange represented the culmination of the participants’ intellectual journey. The finalists demonstrated confidence, clarity of thought, persuasive expression and the ability to engage with opposing arguments in a manner that reflected the central philosophy of the Symposium.

The Grand Final brought La Martiniere College, Lucknow, and Seth M.R. Jaipuria School, Gomti Nagar, together in the concluding contest. After evaluation by the distinguished panel of adjudicators, La Martiniere College, Lucknow emerged as the Overall Champion of Jaipuria Symposium 2026. The achievement marked the culmination of an impressive performance across the various stages of the competition.

The final round also saw exceptional individual performances from students representing both finalist schools. Aditya Sharma, Kabir Bhandari, and Arnav Kumar of La Martiniere College, Lucknow, and Tavisha Gattani, Siddhi Mishra, and Fareeha Khan of Seth M.R. Jaipuria School, Gomti Nagar, were among those recognised with the Symposium’s Best Speaker honours. With the exact individual ranking of these honours not being retained in the final records, the recognition is best viewed collectively as a testament to the outstanding quality of oratory and argumentation displayed by both finalist teams.

The Award Ceremony subsequently recognised excellence demonstrated throughout the Symposium. Alongside the Overall Champion, the ceremony acknowledged outstanding speakers and interjectors, achievements across the different competitive rounds, and the teams whose performances distinguished them through the course of the event. Recognition was also accorded to the Best Consensus Papers, highlighting an aspect of the Symposium that extended beyond conventional competitive debating and placed equal value on collaboration and collective reasoning.

The competitive proceedings transitioned into the Valedictory Ceremony, bringing together participants, teacher mentors, adjudicators, moderators, volunteers, members of the organising committee, and the wider school community. The closing proceedings reflected upon the two-day journey of the Symposium and the values that had guided it from the outset: curiosity, intellectual humility, respectful disagreement, and conscious collaboration.

The ceremony also featured a special dance performance by the students of Seth M.R. Jaipuria School, adding a cultural dimension to the conclusion of the event. A closing audiovisual presentation subsequently revisited the journey of Jaipuria Symposium 2026, capturing the debates, interactions and moments that defined its second edition.

The closing ceremony further acknowledged the significance of Seth M.R. Jaipuria School’s recognition among the World’s Top 10 Schools in Community Collaboration at the World’s Best School Prizes by T4 Education. The recognition was celebrated as an extension of the school’s broader commitment to collaboration, community engagement and purposeful education.

The event concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the participating schools and their teacher mentors, the distinguished judges and moderators, the school leadership and management, the organising committee, volunteers and every student who contributed to the successful execution of the Symposium. Their collective efforts ensured that the event remained not merely a competition, but a shared intellectual experience shaped by dialogue and participation.

Over the course of two days, Jaipuria Symposium 2026 sought to challenge a conventional understanding of debate. Participants were not only expected to defend positions, but to research deeply, adapt their reasoning, listen to opposing perspectives and, through the Consensus Paper, discover the possibility of working together despite disagreement. The final day therefore served not simply as the conclusion of a competition, but as the culmination of an experience designed to encourage young people to question with confidence, disagree with respect and approach complex issues with both conviction and empathy.

As the curtains fell on its second edition, Jaipuria Symposium 2026 left behind a celebration of intellectual curiosity, spirited competition, and conscious collaboration, reaffirming that the most meaningful outcome of debate is not always the victory of one argument over another, but the broader understanding that emerges when different perspectives are brought into conversation. It also shone the spotlight on the outstanding leadership of the students, whose meticulous planning and organisation translated seamlessly into the flawless execution of the event. The resounding success of the event demonstrated that Seth M.R. Jaipuria School is where tomorrow’s leaders are nurtured.
