With grandparents by their side and curiosity in their eyes, Grade 1 students at Seth M.R. Jaipuria School celebrated Grandparents’ Day in a space filled with warmth and meaning. The celebration echoed the school’s vision of nurturing a conscious community, one where values, relationships, and learning flow seamlessly between school and home.
The celebrations began with a series of fun-filled activity zones. From musical chairs to engaging sorting games, the campus buzzed with excitement as grandparents were seen cheering, laughing, and fully participating alongside their little ones. Several game stalls became spaces of shared joy, with children proudly winning small prizes and grandparents enjoying every win just as much.
One of the most loved corners was the non-fire cooking area, where grandparents and grandchildren teamed up to create delicious, healthy treats. From sandwiches and chaat to salads and burgers, the focus remained on nutritious ingredients coming together to create truly lip-smacking food, made with care and companionship.
Equally engaging was the clay modelling zone, where creativity flowed freely. Together, grandparents and children shaped adorable clay creations, from tiny elephants and pots to little Ganesh ji idols and Shivlings. What stood out was not the final outcome, but the joy of creating together, without hurry or expectation.
Once the activities wrapped up, everyone moved to the beautifully decorated assembly area. Soft music filled the air as grandparents settled down, surrounded by thoughtful décor and gratitude-filled quotes displayed across the walls. Messages like “Thank you for filling my childhood with beautiful memories, wisdom, and love” and “Grandparents make the world a kinder place just by being in it” added depth and emotion to the space.
The stage performances began with a serene shloka chanting, where the young students flawlessly recited mantras, instantly holding the audience’s attention. This was followed by a touching group song dedicated to grandparents, expressing gratitude and love. As the children sang their heartfelt gratitude song, the audience was visibly moved.
All the grandpas and grandmas were seen rising from their seats, smiling through misty eyes and gently waving at their grandchildren on stage. Some grandparents softly called out their little ones’ names while taking pictures, while others folded their hands in quiet pride.
Next came an energetic dance performance on the song Bum Bum Bole, Masti Mein Dole, bringing cheerful rhythms and bright expressions to the stage. The performances continued with a charming short play depicting a conversation between a confused grandchild and a wise grandmother. Played entirely by students, the act beautifully highlighted the quiet strength and guidance grandparents bring into everyday life, drawing smiles and soft laughter from the audience.
A key highlight of the day was Jaipuria Samvad, an open and meaningful dialogue between teachers and grandparents. The session reflected the school’s philosophy of conscious transformation, extending learning beyond classrooms into homes. Grandparents shared how children speak fondly about their teachers, silence time, water breaks, appreciation through stars, and the loving environment at school.
Many expressed admiration for the balance of education, values, Sanskrit learning, cultural grounding, and emotional openness they see developing in their grandchildren.
Discussions also touched upon modern-day challenges such as excessive screen time, junk food habits, and shrinking family structures. Grandparents emphasised the importance of joint families, shared values, storytelling, mindful eating, and building social skills.
Through slides and real-life situations, conversations unfolded around food choices, mobile usage, hygiene, sharing, and emotional balance, with grandparents actively participating and reflecting on their own homes.
One grandparent beautifully summed up the philosophy behind the activities, sharing that while working on a clay model with his grandchild, he realised what conscious transformation truly meant. It was about being fully present, enjoying the process without worrying about the outcome, and discovering that something beautiful had been created, without even noticing how time had passed.
The celebrations concluded with an open stage session, where grandparents and grandchildren performed together. Some danced hand in hand, others chanted mantras like the Gayatri Mantra together, while songs like Humko Shakti Dena Daata filled the space with devotion. A particularly moving moment came when a young student confidently recited the Hanuman Chalisa, leaving the audience spellbound.
