Seth M.R. Jaipuria School, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow observed Lohri on campus with students, teachers, administrative staff, and support staff gathering at the front field of the school for the celebration. The open field served as a common space where members of the school community came together for the observance.
Lohri is often understood as a seasonal marker rather than a symbolic celebration. Observed in January across North India, it aligns closely with the agrarian calendar and reflects how communities historically responded to changes in climate, daylight, and crop cycles. In an academic environment, this makes Lohri a useful cultural reference point, connecting lived tradition with ideas of geography, environment, and social practices.
The Lohri fire was lit by Mrs. Promini Chopra, Principal of the school, who offered peanuts and popcorn into the fire. Members of the school leadership, teachers, administrative staff, and support staff followed by making their offerings. Students and staff then gathered around the fire, taking rounds as folk music played in the background. The Lohri song Sunder Mundriye played as people danced and interacted in the open field.
Prasad was later distributed among those present, as the gathering continued around the fire under the winter sunlight.
