Seth M.R. Jaipuria School, Vineet Khand, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, had the proud privilege of hosting the CISCE Yoga Competition 2025 (Lucknow North Zone) on 17th July 2025. The campus transformed into a vibrant yet contemplative space where discipline, devotion, and inner calm converged, as students from reputed schools across the region came together to honour the timeless science of yoga.
The day opened with a special assembly that warmly welcomed visiting students and teachers. The ceremonial lighting of the lamp set a sacred tone, followed by a resonant morning prayer and mantra shlokas invoking blessings for clarity, strength, and grace. In her address, Principal Mrs Promini Chopra reminded the gathering that yoga is not merely a set of postures but a profound way of life that nurtures the body, refines the mind, and uplifts the spirit—guiding each individual towards inner harmony and higher consciousness.
The assembly was further enriched by soulful and artistic performances by the school’s students. A devotional group hymn, “Shiv Kailasho Ke Vaasi”, paid homage to Lord Shiva—the Adiyogi, the first yogi, and the divine embodiment of supreme stillness and strength. The hymn resonated deeply with the spirit of the competition and was followed by a graceful dance performance that beautifully captured the essence of yogic balance, movement, and mindfulness. These offerings set a perfect spiritual and cultural tone for the day ahead.
Once the assembly concluded, the participating students proceeded to change into their yoga attire and moved towards their designated performance areas, which had been thoughtfully prepared with separate spaces for boys and girls. The competition was conducted across three categories—Under-14, Under-17, and Under-19—allowing students of varying age groups to showcase their skills at the level most suited to them.
As the competition unfolded, the atmosphere was filled with awe and admiration. The young participants amazed the audience and judges with their advanced asanas, seamless transitions, and impeccable poise. Each posture was a striking blend of strength and flexibility, yet what shone even brighter was the inner calm that radiated from each child. Their movements reflected hours of disciplined practice, their balance revealed mental focus, and their stillness conveyed a spiritual connection with the deeper essence of yoga.
The competition was graced by a highly distinguished panel of judges comprising Dr. Ashutosh Gupta, Mr. Shambhu Dev, Mrs. Seema Singh, and Prof. Alka Agrawal. Their presence added immense value to the event as they observed each performance with a keen eye and offered words of appreciation and guidance. They commended the participants not only for their technical precision but also for their sincerity and devotion, encouraging them to see yoga as a sacred and lifelong practice that nurtures physical health, mental clarity, and emotional strength.
As the day drew to a close, a sense of fulfilment and gratitude enveloped the gathering. The school expressed its heartfelt thanks to the esteemed judges by acknowledging their time, wisdom, and the inspiration they had shared. The students, too, were honoured for their spirited participation and were gently reminded that their achievements were not limited to the competition but extended to the lifelong benefits that yoga would bring into their lives.
More than a competition, the CISCE Yoga Competition 2025 at Seth M.R. Jaipuria School was a conscious celebration of wellness and self-mastery. It reflected the school’s enduring commitment to holistic education, where academic pursuit is harmoniously complemented by practices that nurture resilience, mindfulness, and a balanced approach to life. In honouring yoga as a living discipline, the event affirmed a simple truth: when stillness and strength meet, transformation begins.
