Endurance, Speed, and Triumph: The 29th Senior School Annual Athletic Meet

On December 13, 2024, the front field of Seth M.R. Jaipuria School, Vineet Khand, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, transformed into a vibrant arena of athletic energy as the Senior School Annual Athletic Meet kicked off in full swing. Over the past month, 59 thrilling events set the stage for heats, where students from Grades 7 to 12 battled it out to earn their spots in the grand showdown. The best of the best then faced off on the big day, turning the field into a spectacle of speed, strength, and sheer determination.

The Chief Guest of the day, Principal Mrs. Promini Chopra, hoisted the flag and declared the meet open. In her address, she shared an inspiring message: “When you run on the field, just tell yourself one thing — that I have to excel and become better than myself. It is a journey of becoming, not a journey of working against people or thinking only of competition. If you have excelled and moved up from where you were, then it is the most successful day of your life.”

This message resonated deeply with Jaipuria’s core values of courage, strength, wisdom, and perfection—encouraging students to view every challenge as an opportunity for self-growth and character-building.

The Lighting of the Torch, led by our spirited Sports Captain, Sidhant Puthan, ignited not just the flame but also the enthusiasm of the crowd. The March Past was a sight to behold, with our sporty Jaipurians marching tall and proud, embodying the essence of their houses. This event symbolized unity, discipline, and the spirit of teamwork, mirroring the school’s commitment to fostering collaboration and respect among its students.

The track and field roared to life with an incredible lineup of events. Blazing sprints in Divisions A, B, and C, such as the 100m, 200m, and 400m, displayed speed, while stamina reigned supreme in the 800m and 1500m races. The 100m hurdles kept everyone on their toes, and field events like the long jump, high jump, and triple jump delivered jaw-dropping moments. The day also highlighted strength with the shot put, discus, and javelin throws, culminating in the action-packed 400m, 200m and 100m relay race. Division A consisted of students from Grades 11 and 12, Division B included students from Grades 9 and 10, and Division C featured students from Grades 7 and 8.

These events showcased not only athletic talent but also the indomitable spirit and perseverance of Jaipurians, reinforcing the school’s emphasis on nurturing courage, determination, and wisdom—traits essential for success both on and off the field.

Expressing gratitude to the sports faculty, one student remarked, “I am deeply grateful to my sports teachers for guiding me on the right path. During practices, they pushed me to work harder, and as a result, I was able to achieve multiple accolades.” This gratitude reflects the school’s values of respect, humility, and the joy of learning from mentors.

The coveted trophy was triumphantly claimed by the athletes of the House of Perfection, who dazzled with an impressive 99 points. Close on their heels, the House of Strength secured second place with 95 points, while the House of Harmony clinched third with a solid 90 points. The House of Wisdom followed in fourth place, showcasing great effort with 84 points.

This grand celebration of athleticism and character truly exemplified the school’s belief in balancing physical excellence with moral and emotional growth, ensuring that every Jaipuria student emerges not just as a winner on the field, but also as a compassionate and resilient individual.
