On 15th January 2023, Seth M.R. Jaipuria celebrated Makar Sankranti, with a touch of yoga, students of 9th to 12th gathered at the school assembly area to perform Surya Namaskar. The association of Makar Sankranti with yoga is esoteric. In yoga, they say that on this day the sun ascends which is in uttarayana, and on Karka Sankranti, the sun descends which is in dakshinayana.
Yoga teacher Mr. Bishwanath Kumar, addressed the audience where he spoke about the importance of Makar Sankranti and the meaning of “Uttarayana”, moving on to Principal Mrs. Promini Chopra addressed the students, emphasizing the significance of yoga and highlighting how its practice can enhance students’ focus and academic performance.
Subsequently, Mr. Bishwanath Kumar commenced the session with a short silent meditation. During this, he guided students to release their thoughts and concentrate on the center of their minds. Following this meditation, students performed three sets of Surya Namaskar.
