Sonam Wangchuk, renowned innovator, education reformist and winner of a number of awards including the Ramon Magsaysay Award attended an interactive session with the students of Seth M. R. Jaipuria School on 28.02.2020. The session was also attended by Mr. Shreevats Jaipuria, Vice-Chairman and Ms. Promini Chopra, Principal.
In the highly motivational session, Mr. Wangchuk spoke to the students about his early school life, his ideas of creativity and how ‘taking the initiative’ is what actually leads to excellence. He also urged the students to remain curious, as ‘curiosity is the software instilled at birth’. Mr. Wangchuk emphasized on how important it is for the education approach to shift from the “Reading, Writing & Arithmetic’ to ‘Head, Hand & Heart’ – a concept on which he has established his SECMOL Alternative School in Ladakh.
After his address, there was a question – answer round where students of Jaipuria asked Mr. Wangchuk some pertaining questions on academics, school education and innovations.
Mr. Wangchuk interacted with the students and saw some of the model projects made by them and was appreciative of the kind of learning taking place in the school.
