VARSHA MANGAL UTSAV

Seth M.R Jaipuria school organized it’s 25thVarshaMangalUtsav  on the 4th of August, 2016. The school celebrates this festival every year to mark the arrival of the prosperous monsoon rains.

The ceremony began with the arrival of the Chief Guest Ms. ShradhaYadav (IFS) Divisional Conservator of Forests, Lucknow. Ms. Yadav in her capacity as a conservator of forests has many accomplishments to her name. She has made the people of Lucknow feel proud when Lucknow became a part of Limca& Guinness Book of world records for maximum bird watching in a single day. Ms. Yadav‘s contribution to increase the forest cover has been significant which saw an increase to 17 sq.km.which is 2nd largest in the State of Uttar Pradesh. The Principal Mrs. Promini Chopra addressed the students with her inspiring words throwing light on the importance of rains. The Principal asked the students to spend more time with nature, admire the shades of green colour. She spoke about the benefits of rains for a good harvest. The Vice- Chairperson Mrs Anjali Jaipuria spoke on how one needs to connect their inner self with the divine to achieve true enlightenment. This was followed by the auspicious lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest accompanied by the chanting of the shloka by the students.

The school orchestra began the cultural event with a dynamic performance of Miyan ki Malhar which is associated with the rainy season. It was followed by the English choir and the Hindi choir presenting melodious numbers to invoke the rain Gods. The senior school dancers presented a euphonious semi – classical performance which was appreciated by one and all. It was followed by a dance performance on the five elements of the nature, by the school dancers which marked the end of the cultural events.

The Chief Guest also addressed the gathering and laid emphasis on the importance of environment protection and preserving our culture. She also appreciated the initiative of ‘Varsha Mangal Utsav‘ taken up by the school and the concept of tree plantation been encouraged in the students. She planted saplings of numerous flowering plants like, red and yellow Ixora, Champa, Malti, Chameli, Sawani, Bottle Brush, Gandhraj, Bougainvillia etc.in the school compound.

The event concluded with the national anthem.
